"The vision thing," a remark made by George H. W. Bush before of the 1988 presidential election when asked to think about his intentions for the presidency.

Among Bush's most significant domestic policy accomplishments were the approval of two large tax cuts during his presidency: the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 and the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003.

Bush's campaign focused on erecting a "Firewall" in the South, a tactic that paid off when he won many primaries there on March 8.
