In a process called diffusion, oxygen moves from the alveoli to the blood through the capillaries (tiny blood vessels) lining the alveolar walls. Once in the bloodstream, oxygen gets picked up by the hemoglobin in red blood cells.

Pathway of Oxygen in diffusion :

Terminal Bronchiole → Respiratory bronchiole → alveolar duct → alveolar sac → alveolus .

What is the pathway of oxygen through the respiratory system?

Nostrils →→ Nasal Cavity →→ Pharynx →→ Trachea →→ Bronchi →→ Bronchiole →→ Alveoli.

How does oxygen move across the respiratory membrane?

The partial pressure of oxygen is high in the alveoli and low in the blood of the pulmonary capillaries. As a result, oxygen diffuses across the respiratory membrane from the alveoli into the blood. In contrast, the partial pressure of carbon dioxide is high in the pulmonary capillaries and low in the alveoli.

What pathway does air travel through the respiratory system ?

The path of air through the respiratory tract is: trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli. It is important to note that no gas exchange takes place in the bronchi, but does in the bronchioles, which are passageways that branch off from the main bronchi and eventually lead to alveolar ducts.

leonid [27]

ANSWER:  C, the continents were at one time joined together.

REASONING: Alfred Wegener was the first person to propose the scientific theory of Continental Drift.  Continental Drift is a theory that supposes all the continents were at one time joined together as one large land mass.  The mechanisms of continental drift can be explained by Plate Tectonics.
