Penelope exists as a character in Homer's Odyssey. She exited the queen of Ithaca and lived as the daughter of Spartan king Icarus and naiad Peritonea. Penelope lives known for her fidelity to her husband Odysseus, despite the concentration of more than a hundred suitors during his absence.

Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, can be approximated in various methods to the other characters in Homer's poem The Odyssey. In many ways, Penelope represents the ideal woman, in that she observes the values and ideals of her society.
