Determine the mass of excess reactant remaining when 20.30 grams of ZnS and are reacted with 36.8 grams of oxygen would be 1.517g

Evaluating :

2ZnS + 3O2 → 2ZnO + 2SO2

1.517g

20.30g ZnS( 1 mol / 97.474 g) = 0.208 mol ZnS

36.8 g 3O2 (3 mol / 32g) = 3.45 mol O2

The limiting reactant would be Zinc oxide since it is consumed completely in the reaction. The excess reactant would be zinc.

Excess Zinc = 0.208 mol ZnS - (3.45 / 2) mol ZnS = 1.517 mol Zn left

Excess Reactant

When reactants are allowed to react to generate products, some reactants will be completely consumed while others will be left behind after the reaction is completed. The surplus reactants are referred to as excess reactants since they are in excess of what was necessary. As a result, an excess reactant can be defined as a chemical that is not totally consumed in the reaction.

Limiting and Excess Reactants :

limiting reactants are those that limit the amount of other reactants that can combine and the final number of products that can be generated in a chemical process. In a chemical reaction, limiting reactants finish before the other reactants.

Think about something very important to you that you would like to accomplish 10 years from now. Write a short-term, medium-term
Vinil7 [7]

Answer:

Goal: to propose a strategy to mitigate carcinogenic dyes present in wastewater.

Explanation:

Hello,

Short-term: Based on my interest about the treatment of carcinogenic effluents in the dyes industry, I'm planning to develop a research about how fast microorganisms could decompose such dyes in order to provide pure water-composed outlet streams. For now, I can suggest that they could work as long as they grow in a simulated dye-rich environment.

Medium-term: In such a way, the subsequent plan is to set up the reaction scheme and the reactor design stage for this bioprocess by running several test in order to collect the experimental data to back up the proposed mathematical model.

Long-term: Finally, the start-up of the whole process starting by the inlets and operation conditions, continuing by the innermost sub processes to decompose the dye and the subsequent adaptation of the outlet streams to produce drinkable water, will be carried out in order to help the environment and living things that are highly affected by those dyes.

Best regards.

Identify the highest energy molecular process that occurs when a molecule absorbs a microwave photon.
ElenaW [278]

The question is incomplete, the complete question is;

Identify the highest energy molecular process that occurs when a molecule absorbs a microwave photon

a) electronic excitation

b) bond breakage

c) molecular vibration

d) molecular rotation

Answer:

molecular rotation

Explanation:

Microwaves are part of the electromagnetic spectrum. They are lower energy, lower frequency radiation.

When molecules absorb infrared radiation, they transition between the rotational states of the molecule.

Hence, the highest energy molecular process that occurs when a molecule absorbs a microwave photon is molecular rotation.

How does population density effect population growth?
Ronch [10]
Population growth decreases as the population density increases. This may be true for non-human populations but our species has developed the ability to modify the environment to sustain a huge population size.

hope this helps
