Attention:THIS IS PART B <em>ONLY!</em>

First,find the unit rate.

35/2   and   <em>x</em>/1

35 divided by 2 = 17.5 so the unit rate for J.K. is 17.5 pages per hour.

now,R.L.

45/3   and  <em>x</em>/1

45 divided by 3 = 15 so the unit rate for R.L. is 15 pages per hour

now we need to divide 355 by 17.5 and divide it by 15.Whichever quotient is smaller,finishes the book first

355 divided by 17.5 = about 20 hrs----J.K.

355 divided by 15 = about 24 hrs-----R.L.

So,who read faster?

Answer:

Part A:

For J.K. Rowling: 17.5pages/hour

For R.L. Stine: 15pages/hour

Part B:

J.K. Rowling will finish the book first.

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Part A:</u>

<em>The rate of change</em> in this case represents how much changes a variable in a specific period of time. The variable is the amount of pages.

You have to calculate the amount of pages that J.K. Rowling and R.L. Stine read in one hour.

For J.K. Rowling, 35 pages every 2 hours can be written as:

\frac{35pages}{2hours}

If you divide 35/2 you can obtain the amount of pages in one hour:

17.5pages/hour (17.5 pages per hour)

For R.L. Stine, 45 pages every 3 hours can be written as:

\frac{45pages}{3hours}

If you divide 45/3 you can obtain the amount of pages in one hour:

15pages/hour (15 pages per hour)

<u>Part B:</u>

In order to calculate who will finish the hunger games first, you have to calculate the amount of time needed to finish the book.

For J.K. Rowling:

You have to multiply 355 pages by \frac{1}{17.5} (because in one hour she reads 17.5 pages) to obtain the amount of hours

355(\frac{1}{17.5}) = 20.29 hours

For R.L. Stine:

You have to multiply 355 pages by \frac{1}{15} (because in one hour he reads 15 pages) to obtain the amount of hours

355(\frac{1}{15}) = 23.67 hours

So, J.K. Rowling will finish the book first because she needs less time than R.L. Stine.

A 51 foot piece of wire is cut into 3 sections so that the first section is three times as long as the second section and the se
kirill [66]

Answer:

The length of the longest section x = 36 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Total length of the wire = 51 ft

Let first section of wire = x

Second section of wire = y

Third section of wire = z

According to given data

x = 3 y & y = 4 z

Total length of the wire = x + y + z = 51

y + 3 y + \frac{y}{4} = 51

\frac{17}{4} y = 51

y = 12

x = 3 × 12 = 36

z = \frac{y}{4} = \frac{12}{4} = 3

Therefore the length of the longest section x = 36 ft

Answer:

CI=P*(1 + R/100)^18

A=(CI + P) = P(1+R/100)^18

13500/P=1(100+R/100)^18

A/P=(100+R/100)^18

A/P=(100+R/100)^18

A=13500$        as (750 * 18)

(13500)/P=(1 +1.15/100)18
