Since the starting and original place is a 4 x 3 rectangle, and the new position already has a side length of 3. We are now going to look for the two points that make a second side of 4. So, the points C(1, -5) and D(4, -5) satisfy the requirements.

The distributive property combines blank and blank to make multiplying whole numbers simpler.
laila [671]
The distributive property combines multiplication with addition and multiplication with subtraction together in order to simplify the equation. It is named as such because the number outside of the open and close parenthesis are distributed to the terms inside. Say for example, the equation given is 5(2x - 3). According to the distributive property, you distribute 5 by multiplying to each of the terms inside the parentheses. The solution would be: 5*2x + 5*-3 = 10x - 15. As you can see, it involved multiplication with addition and subtraction. Generally, you just have to add all the terms while making sure you carry the sign of the integer along when you multiply them just as shown in my example.

the slope goes by several names

• deltaY over deltaX

• Δy over Δx

• rise over run

• gradient

• constant of proportionality

however, is the same cat wearing different costumes.

and to get it, we simply need two points off of the straight line, hmm let's use the ones in the picture below.

(\stackrel{x_1}{2}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{4})\qquad (\stackrel{x_2}{6}~,~\stackrel{y_2}{6}) ~\hfill \stackrel{slope}{m}\implies \cfrac{\stackrel{rise} {\stackrel{y_2}{6}-\stackrel{y1}{4}}}{\underset{run} {\underset{x_2}{6}-\underset{x_1}{2}}}\implies \cfrac{2}{4}\implies \cfrac{1}{2}
