Sickle cell disease in an inherited blood disorder. It is a recessive trait. That means you can carry one recessive allele for t

he disease and not have the symptoms. In this case, if you were a carrier and did not have the disease, your genotype for sickle cell would be A) dominant. B) heterozygous. C) homozygous. D) sex-linked.

The right answer is B) heterozygous.

Sickle cell disease is a genetic, inherited disease affecting red blood cells, in which a child can be ill only if both parents are transmitters (at least heterozygous, carrier of the trait), ie asymptomatic carriers of the gene for sickle cell disease. It is a hereditary autosomal recessive disease, that is, it affects girls as well as boys, and only manifests itself when one carries two genes of the disease (homozygous). This disease is genetic and therefore not contagious.

hodyreva [135]

Those options are very odd because none of those options are the reason the planets in out solar system revolve around the Sun. The real reason is because the Sun's gravity is pulling on the planets. However, if I had to choose one it would be the Sun is the most massive object in out solar system.

In the absence of recombination, how many genetically different types of gamete can an organism with six homologous chromosome p
Black_prince [1.1K]

Answer:

(D) 64

Explanation:

We have given number of chromosome pair that is haploid number = 6

We have to calculate the number of possible gamete in absence of recombination

The number of garnets is given by 2^n where n is haploid number

In question we have given haploid number, that is n=6

So the number of gametes without recombination =2^6=64

So option (d) is the correct answer

what is true of intercellular signals that do not go through direct connections between cells such as gap junctions? (A.They eit
adell [148]

The correct answer is option A. They either match up with a receptor molecule on the surface of the cell or enter the cell through the membrane.

The intercellular signals are the signals, which transfer the signals from one cell to the another and the intracellular signals are those signals, which carries message within the cell.

The intercellular signals may or may not be transferred through the gap junctions. The chemical signals are one of the type of the cell signals. The chemical signalling molecules generally have a receptor on the cells, where these molecules can bind and can be cause the activation of the cell. The chemical signals can also enter into the cells through active transport and facilitated diffusion. So, these type of transports does not go through the Gap junction.
