Explorers often saw the indigenous people as primitive. The overwhelming desire to better their own situations and fortunes led to many viewing the natives as expendable products. Genrish500 [490]

Taking students and families to help plant trees and flowers in bare areas around their town.

What are the advantages of planting trees?

 • Trees bring many benefits to the environment.
 • Trees reduce the urban heat island effect through evaporative cooling and reducing the amount of sunlight entering parking lots and buildings. This is especially true in areas with large impervious surfaces, such as shop parking lots and industrial complexes.
 • Trees improve air quality by filtering harmful dust and pollutants like ozone, carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide from the air we breathe.
 • Trees provide the oxygen we need to breathe.
 • Trees reduce stormwater runoff, reduce erosion and pollution of our waterways, and can reduce the impact of flooding.
 • Many species of wildlife depend on trees for their habitat. Trees provide food, protection and shelter for many species of birds and mammals.
