Perimeter of the rectangle = length + length + width + width
P = (3x-3) + (3x-3) + (x-3) + (x-3)
P = 3x + 3x + x + x - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3
P = 8x - 12

Perimeter of the triangle = side 1 + side 2 + side 3
P = (2x-1) + (2x-1) + (2x)
P = 2x + 2x + 2x - 1 - 1
P = 6x - 2

The perimeter is equal for both shapes
6x - 2 = 8x - 12
-2 + 12 = 8x - 6x
10 = 2x
x = 10÷2
x = 5

The length of fencing needs to be bought for each shape is (use either expression of perimeter to work it out)

P = 6x - 2 = 6(5) - 2 = 30 - 2 = 28 feet

The grades in a statistics course for a particular semester were as follows:
ziro4ka [17]

Answer:

Test Statistic = 10

Critical Value = 9.488

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

Grade A _ B _ C _ D _ F

_____14 _ 18 _32_ 20_16

H0 : distribution of grade is uniform

H1 : Distribution of grade is not uniform

Using the Chisquare statistic :

χ² = (observed - Expected)² / Expected

The expected value :

(14+18+32+20+16) / 5 = 20

χ² = (14-20)^2 / 20 + (18-20)^2 / 20 + (32-20)^2 / 20 + (20-20)^2 / 20 + (16-20)^2 / 20

χ² statistic = 10

The χ² critical at df = (n - 1) = 5 - 1 = 4

χ² Critical(10, 4) = 9.488

In the course of a short race, a car does 50,000 J of work in 7 s. What is the power of the car during the race? (round to the n
nirvana33 [79]

Answer:

Work done is the product of distance and force, it is measured in joules.

Power is the rate of work done given by dividing the work done by time

Power (watts)= workdone (J)/ time (s)

                     = 50,000J/7 sec

                     = 7142.857 watts

Therefore, the power of the car during the race was 7142.857 watts

Compare 4 x 10^6 and 2 x 10^7.
marishachu [46]

Answer:

C. 2\times 10^7 is 5 times larger than 4\times 10^6

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to compare 4\times 10^6 and 2\times 10^7.

In order to determine how many times

2\times 10^7

is larger than

4\times 10^6,

we need to divide 2\times 10^7 by  4\times 10^6 to obtain;

\frac{2\times 10^7}{4\times 10^6} =\frac{10}{2} =5

Therefore we can see that;

2\times 10^7 is 5 times larger than 4\times 10^6

The correct answer is C.
