I do believe this refers to the mitochondrion, better know by its plural nomenclature mitochondria. Studies show that at some point in evolution, a eukaryote must've somehow "eaten" a prokaryote, but the prokaryote survived. Because of this prokaryote's beneficial characteristic of turning what it "eats" into energy, the eukaryote kept it as an organelle, forming a symbiotic relationship. As natural selection follows, this kind of eukaryote was much more fit, thus eventually taking over as the common structure of all eukaryotes. That prokaryote was the mitochondrion. However, since it was originally a different organism, it has it's own DNA, different from the actual eukaryote's genetic information.

Something I wish my teacher knew about me..
zzz [600]

Answer:

Anything semi-personal that would give your teacher a sense of your learning style and personal needs.

Explanation:

Your teacher is looking for something they should know about you in order to help you best. This also helps them get an idea of your personality, and learning style. I suggest keeping it semi-personal, especially if you have never worked with this teacher before, or are working with them for the rest of the year, because you might want to keep some things to yourself. I hope this helps!

Yesterday Kaiulani consumed 2100 kcalories worth of food that contained 60 g of protein. How did her protein intake compare with
Fed [463]

Answer:

Her protein intake is within the recommended range for protein.

Explanation:

Protein along with other macronutrients like carbohydrates and fats is an important part of our diet. It is made of amino acids and helps in muscle building, production of hormones and enzymes and maintaining the immune system. Although not the major source of calories, protein also contains four calories per gram.

According to US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), if a person has 2000 calorie diet they should consume at least 50 grams of protein which means at least 10% of calories should come from protein. The healthy range of calories from proteins is 12 to 20%. Kaiulani consumed 60 gm of protein in 2100 calories diet which means total 240 calories or 11.42% of total calories were obtained from protein. This number lies within the recommended range for protein.

Where does the blood release oxygen?
Cells throughout the body
or
the gills
Wittaler [7]
Red blood cells pick up oxygen in the lungs. Blood travels away from the heart and lungs through the arteries. Red blood cells drop off oxygen to the cells through tiny tubes called capillaries. Blood then returns to the heart through the veins and the cycle begins again.
