After the Emancipation Proclamation, the central goals of the Civil War (1861-1865) were to preserve the Union and end slavery. Under President Abraham Lincoln, the Emancipation Proclamation (1863) declared that all slave people within the rebellious states would become free. However, slaves' freedom depended upon the Union. The Emancipation Proclamation reinforced the idea that the war for the Union had become a war for freedom; consequently, the abolition of slavery was a war aim.

How did the civil war cause political changes in Europe?
aivan3 [116]

Answer:

Those supporting the idea of a European Civil War contend that the heads of state in many European nations were so closely related as to constitute branches of the same family. European culture is also relatively homogeneous, with most nations tracing the roots of their culture to two principal sources, namely Christianity and classical antiquity. While separate, their respective legal systems were remarkably similar and evolved to become more so over time.
