One of the customers has twisted her ankle.  You give her a lift in an electric buggy. You drive 5.9 kilometres to the customer.

  You then drive 4 kilometres to the first aid station and finally 6.8 kilometres to the car park. How far have you driven altogether?

Answer:

You drive altogether 16.7 kilometers since you pick up the customer and leave the buggy in the car park

Step-by-step explanation:

First travel to the customer 5.9 + aid station 4 + car park 6.8 = total travel

T_{total} = 5.9 km + 4 km + 6.8 km \\T_{total} = 16.7 km \\

A survey of 225 students showed the mean number of hours spent studying per week was 20.6 and the standard deviations was 2.7
LekaFEV [45]

Answer:

The margin of error is approximately 0.3

Step-by-step explanation:

The following information has been provided;

The sample size, n =225 students

The sample mean number of hours spent studying per week = 20.6

The standard deviation = 2.7

The question requires us to determine the margin of error that would be associated with a 90% confidence level. In constructing confidence intervals of the population mean, the margin of error is defined as;

The product of the associated z-score and the standard error of the sample mean. The standard error of the sample mean is calculated as;

\frac{sigma}{\sqrt{n} }

where sigma is the standard deviation and n the sample size. The z-score associated with a 90% confidence level, from the given table, is 1.645.

The margin of error is thus;

1.645*\frac{2.7}{\sqrt{225}}=0.2961

Therefore, the margin of error is approximately 0.3

A polynomial is to be constructed that will touch the x axis at most 8 times. What is the minimum degree of the polynomial?
Harman [31]
The maximum number of roots to a polynomial of order n is n roots. Take the example of a quadratic (order 2) which can intersect the x-axis a maximum of 2 times, and similarly a cubic (order 3) 3 times maximum.

Hence for 8 intersections, minimum order = 8
