A baker purchased 10 lb of wheat flour and 13 lb of rye flour for a total cost of $17.40. A second purchase, at the same prices,

included 12 lb of wheat flour and 15 lb of rye flour. The cost of the second purchase was $20.40. Find the cost per pound of the wheat flour and of the rye flour.

wheat = $0.96 lb rye = $1.89 lb

12w + 15r = 3987 15w + 10r = 3330 r = (3330 - 15w)/10 12w + 15r = 3987 12w + 15((3330 - 15w)/10) = 3987 12w + (15/10)(3330 - 15w) = 3987 12w + 4995 - 22.5w = 3987 10.5w = 1008 w = 96 cents r = 189 cents.

Hope this helps mate

Prove the following statement. Assume that all sets are subsets of a universal set U.
nadezda [96]

Answer:

O U ⊆ A ∪ B                     True

O U ⊆ A ∩ B                    False

O A ∪ B ⊆ U                     True

O B ⊆ U                            True

O A ⊆ U                            True

O A ∩ B ⊆ U                     True

Step-by-step explanation:

To prove the first part

\text{If} \,\,\,\,\,\, A^{c} \subseteq B   \,\,\,\,\,\text{then} \,\,\,\,\, A \cup B = U

Remember that any set is a subset of the universal set. Therefore it is true that

A \cup B \subseteq U

Now, given any  x \in U   it is true that

x \in B  \,\,\,\, \text{or} \,\,\,\, x \notin B

Now according to the information given initially

\text{If} \,\,\,\,\, x \notin B  \,\,\,\,\, \text{then} \,\,\,\,\, x \notin A^{c}

And then you know that

\text{If} \,\,\,\,\, x \notin A^{c} \,\,\,\,\,\text{then} \,\,\,\,\,\,\, x \in A

Therefore    U \subseteq A \cup B  and using double inclusion

U = A \cup B.

Now using the information just exposed

O U ⊆ A ∪ B                     True

O U ⊆ A ∩ B                    False

O A ∪ B ⊆ U                     True

O B ⊆ U                            True

O A ⊆ U                            True

O A ∩ B ⊆ U                     True

Find the equation of the line with Slope =5 and passing through (9,51)
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

The equation of the line that passes through the point (9,51) with a slope of 5

is

y=5x+6

Step-by-step explanation:

You want to find the equation for a line that passes through the point (9,51) and has a slope of 5.

First of all, remember what the equation of a line is:

y = mx+b

Where:

m is the slope, and

b is the y-intercept

To start, you know what m is; it's just the slope, which you said was 5. So you can right away fill in the equation for a line somewhat to read:

y=5x+b.

Now, what about b, the y-intercept?

To find b, think about what your (x,y) point means:

(9,51). When x of the line is 9, y of the line must be 51.

Because you said the line passes through this point, right?

Now, look at our line's equation so far: . b is what we want, the 5 is already set and x and y are just two "free variables" sitting there. We can plug anything we want in for x and y here, but we want the equation for the line that specfically passes through the the point (9,51).

So, why not plug in for x the number 9 and for y the number 51? This will allow us to solve for b for the particular line that passes through the point you gave!.

(9,51). y=mx+b or 51=5 × 9+b, or solving for b: b=51-(5)(9). b=6.

A(-2, 1), B(-4,-1), and C(0, -1) and is
Vikentia [17]
(4,-1)

If you graph 0,-1 as a coordinate then x=2 you can just count how many are before the line, then count that many after and that’s your coordinate

The Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed in the year A.D.________.
liubo4ka [24]

1. The Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed in the year of 70 AD.

The first Temple was built by King Solomon for seven years in the 10th century BC. The first Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BC. The construction of the new Temple began 535 BC and it is completed in 516 BC. The rebuilding of the Temple was approved by Darius I. It was, however, destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD. Despite the fact that the Temple was destroyed, all the outer walls still stand, and for a long time, it was believed that only the west wall stood.

The provincial governors in Rome were given orders to openly persecute the Christians by Emperor Trajan.

This can be concluded from the letter sent to him by Pliny, governor of Bithynia (province of Asia Minor). He had doubts about the investigation and the way of punishing those who were accused as Christians because he never been present at any trials of Christians. This implies that there have already been trials for Christians and that he did not know the details about Trajan’s decree of prosecuting Christians.

The Roman emperor who passed a decree to require everyone to participate in the cult of emperor worship was Decius.

Emperor Decius (249-251) announced the edict that orders everyone to do sacrifice to the Roman gods and to him personally. According to the edict, the sacrifice had to be carried out in the presence of a Roman magistrate who issued a certificate that this had been done. There is no evidence that it was directed against the Christians, but it was fatal for them because was contrary to their beliefs.

1 Peter 3:17: "For it is better, if  God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong."

The quote is from the First Epistle of Peter, which is part of the New Testament. It is written by Peter the Apostle in Rome (where he was a bishop) as the letter which is sent to believers in Asia Minor who were persecuted and tortured.

The most damaging charge brought against the Christians in Rome was that they were constant law-breakers who did not discharge their duties to the state.

<span>The Roman authorities consider Christians as opponents of the state that promoted treasonous activities and they were apprehended for disobedience. Suspected Christians have often refused to deviate from Christianity in order to comply themselves with acts of a state cult, which was understood as a public cancellation of loyalty to the state.</span>
