The correct options are: A - C - E

The eclive of the Empire It occurred in the period from 1056-1261. After the period of splendor that brought the Macedonian Renaissance, in the second half of the eleventh century began a period of crisis, marked by its weakness at the appearance of two powerful new enemies: the Seljuk Turks and the Christian kingdoms of Western Europe; and by the growing feudalization of the Empire, accentuated by the forced Comneno emperors to make territorial transfers (called pronoia) to the aristocracy and members of their own family.

On the eastern border, the Seljuk Turks, who had so far focused their interest in defeating Fatimid Egypt, began to make inroads into Asia Minor, where most of the Byzantine soldiers came from. With the unexpected defeat in the battle of Manzikert (1071) of Emperor Roman IV at the hands of Alp Arslan, Sultan of the Seljuk Turks, culminating the Byzantine hegemony in Asia Minor. The subsequent attempts of the Commenos emperors to reconquer the lost territories will be totally unsuccessful. Moreover, a century later, Manuel I Comneno suffered another humiliating defeat against the Seljuks in Miriocephalus in 1176.

Byzantine power became permanently weakened. At this time, Serbia, under Esteban Dushan, of the Nemanjić Dynasty, was strengthened by taking advantage of the collapse of Byzantium, initiating a process that would culminate when the Serbian Empire was formed in 1346.

Three Greek states inheriting the Byzantine Empire remained outside the orbit of the recently created Latin Empire: the Empire of Nicaea, the Empire of Trebizond, and the Despotate of Epirus. The first, controlled by the Palaeologus dynasty, reconquered Constantinople in 1261 and defeated the Epirus, revitalizing the Empire, but paying too much attention to Europe when the increasing penetration of the Turks in Asia Minor was the main problem.

How did the Truman doctrine respond to communism
Aneli [31]

Answer:

1: by promising aid to help countries avoid communist takeover.

Explanation:

The Truman Doctrine was first stated by US President Harry Truman to Congress in 1947. Truman said, "It must be the policy of the United States to support free people who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures." Essentially, the Truman Doctrine pledged American effort elsewhere in the world to check the spread of communist and Soviet influence. The policy was first put into action in 1948 by providing economic support to Greece and Turkey to stave off communist movement in those countries.

A cartoon by David Low, published on 6th April 1949, entitled ‘Your play, Joe’.
WITCHER [35]

Answer:

Explanation:

Cartoon shows Soviet leader Joseph Stalin gazing with clenched fists at the word "Preparedness," written in the sky by an airplane labeled "U.S. Industries." Probably refers to the Soviet reaction as the United States took positive steps in the late 1940s and 1950s to build a military and economic counterforce to the perceived Communist threat.

Cartoon shows a puzzled Soviet leader Joseph Stalin dressed as Santa Claus with a long white beard, carrying a pistol and a rifle, as well as a knife stuck in the top of his boot. Suggests the skepticism of the West at the protestations of peace coming from the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

Cartoon shows Soviet leader Stalin calling out in outrage to Yugoslav leader Marshal Tito (shown as a small boy in a sailor suit), who is looking over a high fence at distant fireworks spelling out: "Independence Day July 4th." Reflects the news of the Soviet-Yugoslav crisis that erupted when the Soviet Union accused the Yugoslavs of failure to follow the party line. Expresses the hope that this may cause Yugoslavia to begin to show more interest the West.

Cartoon shows a line of wooden cutouts representing Poland, Yugoslavia, Rumania, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Soviet leader Stalin, seated behind them with a speaking tube, makes them appear to say, "No co-operation for us." Suggests that it was Russian pressure that made the Eastern European nations decline in July 1947 to participate in the Marshall Plan.

Cartoon shows the hand of Soviet leader Stalin pressing a stop button labeled "Korea." Next to this button are other stop buttons labeled "Indochina," "Iran," "Yugoslavia," and "Germany." In 1952 and 1953, the Soviet Union had apparently used its influence to persuade Communist China and North Korea to agree to an armistice to end the Korean War. Taking the view that the Soviet Union was responsible for many of the Cold War tensions, the cartoonist suggests that Stalin could take steps to end the conflicts in other areas of the world if he wished.

Why did the War of 1812 end?
Katen [24]
Why did the War of 1812 end?

Answer: A large British army under Sir George Prevost was thus forced to abandon its invasion of the U.S. northeast and retreat to Canada. The American victory on Lake Champlain led to the conclusion of U.S.-British peace negotiations in Belgium, and on December 24, 1814, the Treaty of Ghent was signed, ending the war.
