Mathematics

Answer:  1. {-2, -3}   2. {-5, 5}   3. {-3, 5}

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

1) First, factor the equation by finding two numbers whose product is 6 and sum is 5.  Then apply the Zero Product Property by setting each product equal to zero and solving for m.

m² + 5m + 6 = 0

                 ∧

                1 + 6 = 7

                2 + 3 = 5   This works!

        (x + 2)(x + 3) = 0

x + 2 = 0      x + 3 = 0

     x = -2           x = -3

2) Factor out the GCF of 5. Notice the remaining factor is the difference of squares (because the middle term is missing and the first and last terms are perfect squares. Then apply the Zero Product Property by setting each product equal to zero and solving for p.

5p² - 125 = 0

5(p² - 25) = 0

5(p +5)(p - 5) = 0

5 ≠ 0    p+ 5 = 0         p - 5 = 0

                 p = -5              p = 5

3) Factor out the GCF of 2. Factor the equation by finding two numbers whose product is -15 and sum is -2.  Then apply the Zero Product Property by setting each product equal to zero and solving for x.

2x² - 4x - 30 = 0

2(x² - 2 - 15) = 0

              ∧

             1 - 15 = -14

             3 - 5 = -2    This works!

     (x + 3)(x - 5) = 0

x + 3 = 0     x - 5 = 0

     x = -3          x = 5

General term for -13, -11, -9, -7
timurjin [86]

The general term for the arithmetic sequence; -13, -11, -9, -7 is Tn = -15 - 2n.

<h3>Arithmetic progression</h3>

-13, -11, -9, -7

  • First term, a = -13
  • Second term = -11

Common difference, d = Second term - first term

= -11 - (-13)

= -11 + 13

= 2

Therefore,

Tn = a + (n - 1)d

Where,

  • n = number of terms

Tn = a + (n - 1)d

= -13 + (n - 1)2

= -13 - 2n - 2

Tn = -15 - 2n

So therefore, the general term for the arithmetic sequence; -13, -11, -9, -7 is Tn = -15 - 2n.

8.1 Tangent Lines find the side of of triangle KLJ
Stells [14]

Answer:

x=12

Step-by-step explanation:

tangent forms 90° with the touch point at circle

(x+8)^2 = 256+x^2

x^2 + 16x + 64 = 256 + x^2

16x = 192

x= 12

The selling price of a box of crackers is $1.75 You mark the crackers up to $2.54 . What is the markup percentage?
Aleks04 [339]

The markup percentage is 45.14%

Step-by-step explanation:

The given is:

  • The selling price of a box of crackers is $1.75
  • You mark the crackers up to $2.54

We need to find the markup percentage

The markup percentage = \frac{New-Old}{old} × 100%

∵ The selling price of a box of crackers is $1.75

∴ Old = 1.75

∵ You mark the crackers up to $2.54

∴ New = 2.54

- Substitute these values in the rule above

∵ The markup percentage = \frac{2.54-1.75}{1.75} × 100%

∴ The markup percentage = \frac{0.79}{1.75} × 100%

∴ The markup percentage = 0.4514 × 100%

∴ The markup percentage = 45.14%

The markup percentage is 45.14%
