HELP PLEASE
Hoochie [10]
If you had values instead of algebraic expressions, you would find the area of the patio and subtract that from the area of the yard. Even though you don't have values, you can still find the area and subtract by expanding and simplifying:
(8x + 2)(6x + 3)
8x × 6x = 48x²
8x × 3 = 24x
2 × 6x = 12x
2 × 3 = 6
So you get 48x² + 36x + 6 as your area of the yard

(x + 5)(3x + 1)
x × 3x = 3x²
x × 1 = x
5 × 3x = 15x
5 × 1 = 5
So the area of the patio is 3x² + 16x + 5

(48x² + 36x + 6) - (3x² + 16x + 5)
48x² - 3x² = 45x²
36x - 16x = 20x
6 - 5 = 1

So your answer is D. 45x² + 20x + 1. I hope this helps!

Simplify -4(3-1)+2

nikdorinn [45]

To solve this you must use the rules of PEMDAS (Parentheses, Exponent, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction)

First we have parentheses.

-4(3 - 1) + 2

3 - 1 = 2

-4(2) + 2

We have no exponents so go on to multiplication

-4(2) + 2

-4 * 2 = -8

-8 + 2

No division so go to addition

-8 + 2

When adding a positive number with a negative number you will act as if you are subtracting the two numbers, then take the sign of the largest number (disregarding the signs). In this case the largest number is 8 and its sign is negative. Your answer will have a negative sign.

-6

Hope this helped!

There are 7 girls and 10 boys taking gymnastics lessons. Write the ratio that compares the number of girls taking gymnastics les
masya89 [10]

Answer:

7:17

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 7 girls and 10 boys taking gymnastics lessons. Write the ratio that compares the number of girls taking gymnastics lessons to the total number of students taking gymnastics lessons

Total number of students taking gymnastics classes = 7 girls + 10 boys = 17 students

Hence:

the ratio that compares the number of girls taking gymnastics lessons to the total number of students taking gymnastics lessons

= 7 : 17
