2 years ago, you were 10 and your Mom was 40. 18 years from now, you will be 12+18 or 30 and your Mom will be 42+18 or 60, so you will be half her age which is 30 years old.

\bf \sqrt{2}\left(3\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{18}  \right)~~
\begin{cases}
18=2\cdot 3\cdot 3\\
\qquad 2\cdot 3^2
\end{cases}\implies \sqrt{2}\left(3\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{2\cdot 3^2}  \right)
\\\\\\
\sqrt{2}\left(3\sqrt{2}+3\sqrt{2}  \right)\implies \sqrt{2}\left(6\sqrt{2} \right)\implies 6\left(\sqrt{2}\right)^2\implies 6\cdot 2\implies \stackrel{rational}{12}

A point is reflected across the x-axis. The new point is (7.5,6). What is the distance between these two points?
blagie [28]
Because it was reflected across the x axis, the distance between the two points is twice the distance of the old point from the x axis, and the distance from the old point from the x axis equals the distance from the new point to the x axis. The distance from the x axis is the absolute value of the x=y value. 7.5 is the y value, meaning the point is 7.5 units away from y=0, the x axis. The new point is twice this from the old point. 7.5 x 2 = 15. The new point is 15 units away from the old point.

<span>An equation that is satisfied for every value of the variable for which both sides are defined is called an identity.

For example:
Given the equation
3x + 4 = x + 2(x + 2)

Notice that for any value of x you use, the equation is true.

Thus, this type of equation is called an identity.
