North East Trade Wind, which is characterized by its blowing from the north east of Ghana to the south- west of Ghana in terms of direction of winds, has the following effects:

1. Because these winds are normally dry, it often causes bleeding of lips among humans and animals.

2. Due to the fact that, these winds do not bring rainfall, it often leads to drying of crops.

3. Also, because the winds bring along dust, it mostly interferes with aircraft operations and settles dust on the decks of ships.

4. The winds blow is also known to comes around the months of November to March this leads to harmattan in the area, thereby causing temperatures to be as low as 9 °C all day.

5. It is also known to prevents rainfall formation and sometimes creates big clouds of dust which can result in dust storms or sandstorms.
