Explanation:

Chemical bonding results from attractive forces that joins chemical species.

  • Noble gases show no tendency to combine with themselves or with other kinds of atoms because of their completely filled outer energy levels.
  • The driving force for most interatomic bonding is the tendency to have completely filled outer energy levels just like the inert gases.
  • The stable configuration can be attained by losing or gaining of electrons or sharing of pairs of electrons.

Two examples of how bonds form:

Bonds can be formed by:

  1. Losing and gaining of electrons to form electrovalent or ionic bonds.
  2. Sharing of electrons to form covalent bonds.

Which interaction between x-ray photons and matter results in total absorption of the incident photon?
Leno4ka [110]

Answer:

Photoelectric effect

Explanation:

In the photoelectric effect, when an x-ray strikes on a metal surface, the energy is completely absorbed by the metal. If the energy would be equal to or more than work function of  metal, electron ejects out. The kinetic energy of the electron which is ejected depends on the energy of the incident radiation and work function of the metal.

Which characteristic best describes how nuclear decay differs from nuclear fission?
kobusy [5.1K]

Nuclear decay is spontaneous.

Nuclear fission does occur spontaneously but at a very low level in fissionable materials. The main difference between fission and nuclear decay is that fission can occur by neutron bombardment. And when the neutron source is also other fissioning atoms, a chain reaction can may happen. <span>
No chain reaction is possible with nuclear decay.

What is the magnitude of velocity for a 2,000 kg car possessing 3,000 kg.m/s of<br> momentum?
yanalaym [24]

Answer:

The product of the mass and the volume is known as momentum.

According to the law of momentum, it is stated that the two or more bodies remain in a constant state unless an external force is applied in an isolated room.

Momentum depends on the following:-

Mass

Velocity

Momentum = MASS \ X \ VOLUMEMomentum=MASS X VOLUME

\begin{gathered}momentum = 3000kgm/s\\\\mass = 2000kg\\\\velocity =\frac{momentum}{mass}\\\\v= \frac{3000}{2000} \\\\v= 1.5m/s\end{gathered}

momentum=3000kgm/s

mass=2000kg

velocity=

momentum

v=

v=1.5m/s
