Hi, I just learned about this in my Algebra II class. There are actually 10 significant numbers in this number. Any 0 before a whole number is NOT a significant number but all whole numbers are significant and the 0 behind the whole number is also significant so all 10 numbers are significant.

Hi,

There are 10 significant digits in the measurement of <span>9478.983560 cm. A significant number is a number that is not a zero, however, in this problem you see there is one zero and that counts as a significant number because it is after a whole number.

In conclusion, a significant number is a number that is not a zero, however the only exception to this rule is that it must be after a whole number for it it to count as significant.

Thanks a lot for posting and I hope this helped. :)

What happens to the amount of energy as it moves up through an energy pyramid?
MissTica

Answer: some energy is lost from the pyramid, energy is transferred from bottom (producers) to top, but in decreasing amounts.

Explanation: total energy is conserved, but not necessarily within the energy pyramid, which is an open system where energy is lost from the pyramid, mainly as heat but also as sound.

Energy is transferred up the pyramid but the amount transferred at each stage is less because of losses outside the pyramid.
