Classify each scale factor as a contraction or an expansion. 5, 0.9, -6, 8/5, 3/8

This is late but as a guide for others it's:

Contraction: 0.9, 3/8

Expansion: 5, -6 , 8/5

Basically what they said but it made me confused at first. Just took the quiz. ^^

The values 5, 8/5 = 1.6 and -6 are all expansions because their absolute value is larger than 1. Note that |-6| = 6.

On the other hand, 0.9 and 3/8 = 0.375 are contractions because their distance from zero (aka absolute value) is less than 1.
