reasonable safety measure, claiming that 65-foot double tractor-trailers are more dangerous that 55-foot singles, that the law would improve safety, and would reduce the number of highway accidents by diverting truck traffic outside the state. Speedy Trucking Company (STC), transports goods throughout the US, including NC, using 65-foot double trailers. STC claims the NC law would make it very costly to transport goods in or through the state. STC sues NC, claiming the NC law is unconstitutional.
