Answer:

Ancient Chinese Beliefs

Confucianism

Daoism

Legalism

How would you define the philosophy?

Confucianism is the philosophy based on the teachings of Confucius. Confucius was an important Chinese philosopher. Confucianism has a system of moral, social, political, and religious thought, and has had a large influence on the history of Chinese civilization.

Daoism (also known as Taoism) is a philosophical tradition of China. Daoism surrounds thought and practice that sometimes are viewed as “philosophical,” as “religious,” or as a combination of both.

Legalism in ancient China was a philosophical belief that human beings are more inclined to do wrong than right because they are motivated entirely by self-interest and require strict laws to control their urge to do things.

Which philosopher is associated with the ideas?

philosopher Confucius

Laozi

Han Feizi

What is the role of the family in philosophy?

Confucianism uses the family as the basis of society, and the relationships of the family members. He used this as a proper social and political behavior.

What is the role of government in philosophy?

Confucius taught people to govern themselves, and how the state is to govern society. The government is seen as a tool to help bring out the best of its people. Confucius saw it as responsible for the well being for the citizens but insisted that they should not forget their individual roles themselves.

Daoists viewed the government as unnatural and therefore, the cause of many problems. To Daoists, the best government was one that governed the least.

The Legalists advocated government by a system of laws that rigidly prescribed punishments and rewards for specific behaviours. They stressed the direction of all human activity toward the goal of increasing the power of the ruler and the state.

Reflection Questions:

What is the importance of ancestors in Chinese culture?

The ancestor worship culture is still an important part of the belief system for the Chinese people. It is based on the belief between the living and the dead. The living needed to sustain their ancestors as the ancestors were able to influence the gods to bring them good fortune.

Which ancient Chinese belief do you agree with most? Why?

I think Taoism. I think this is the most interesting because I always thought that we should respect our elders and other people. If I was a ruler I will practice Taoism because I want my kingdom to be nice, respectful, and have nice manners to one another.

Though they are rare today, the most common form of rule in world history has been : (monarchy/dictatorship)
LuckyWell [14K]

The most common form of rule in world history has been monarchy (from the Greek monos, "one," and arche, "power"). It is an unipersonal, hereditary and lifelong form of government. The Head of State is the king (or queen), the prince or the emperor. Although monarchy was at first absolute (the ruler had absolute or total power), it then evolved into a limited form (the ruler needed the help of the most powerful members of society) and finally into a constitutional form (the ruler is primarily a symbolic figure and the nation is governed by a parliament).

At present, the monarchy is the form of government of a few countries around the world, such as Spain, England, Japan and Denmark, to name a few.
