I'm solving your system by substitution.
2x-4=5, 5x+4y =2
Step# 1: solve for x
2x - 4+ 4= 5 + 4( add +4 to both sides)
2x = 9
x = 9/2
Step# 2: solve for y

5(9/2) + 4y = 2
4y + 45/2 = 2 
4y 45
y = 45/4 = 11.25
