Shang Dynasty made great contributions to Chinese civilization. It existed in the middle of China’s Bronze Age. Huge cities with strong social class divisions were built, use of bronze were monopolized, irrigation systems were expanded, and a system of writing was developed until it was overthrown. It was the first dynasty to leave behind written records and solid archaeological evidence of its existence.
