The plot of Eragon contains the following details:

A boy named Eragon is the protagonist of the story. He discovers a mysterious stone, but does not understand what this is or what it can be used for. Later in the story, he discovers that the stone is actually an egg, and a dragon comes out of it. He names the dragon Saphira. However, a king called Galbatorix is looking for the egg, which forces Eragon and Saphira to flee. When Eragon meets a storyteller called Brom, he offers to teach Eragon about an extinct group called "The Riders."
