The graph below shows the height through which an elevator travels, y, in x seconds: A graph is shown with x axis title as Time

in seconds. The title on the y-axis is Height of Elevator Above Ground in feet. The values on the x-axis are from 0 to 5 in increments of 1 for each grid line. The values on the y-axis are from 0 to 50 in increments of 10 for each grid line. A line is shown connecting points at ordered pairs 1,10 and 2, 20 and 3, 30 and 4, 40. The title of the graph is Rate of Ascent. What is the rate of change for the relationship represented in the graph?

Answer:

C. 10

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given a graph representing the height of the elevator with respect to time.

Since, we know that,

X-axis represents the 'time' in seconds and y-axis represents the 'height of the elevator' in feet.

As, the coordinate points on the graph are given by,

(1,10), (2,20), (3,30) and (4,40).

So, the rate of change can be found out by solving, \frac{20-10}{2-1}=10.

Hence, the rate of change of the relationship is 10.

Maria solved the equation -5 1/8 n = -9 3/4. Here answer was n = 1 37/41. She is fairly confindent about her answer, but wants t
allochka39001 [22]

Answer:

Yes, she is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given equation,

-5\frac{1}{8}n = -9\frac{3}{4}

(-5-\frac{1}{8})n=-9-\frac{3}{4}

\frac{(-40-1)n}{8}=\frac{-36-3}{4}

-\frac{41}{8}n =-\frac{39}{4}

-41\times 4n = -39\times 8

\implies n =\frac{39\times 2}{41}=\frac{78}{41}=1\frac{37}{41}

By estimation :

Since, 1/8 = 0.125 ≈ 0, while, 3/4 = 0.75 ≈ 1

⇒ -5\frac{1}{8}\approx -5

And, -9\frac{3}{4}\approx -10

-5n = -10\implies n =\frac{-10}{-5}=2

Since, 1\frac{37}{41} is near to 2.

Hence, she is correct.

At 0°C, the volume of a gas is 22 liters. For each degree the temperature T (in degrees Celsius) increases, the volume V (in lit
liubo4ka [24]
At T=0^{\circ}C, the volume of the gas is V=22 L.

At temperature T=1C, the volume of the gas is (22+225) L.

This means that if we increase the temperature by k degrees:
T=k^{\circ}C
the volume of the gas is
V=22 + 225 k [L] (1)

Since T=k, we can rewrite eq.(1) as
V= 22 + 225 T [L]
which gives the expression for the volume of the gas in liters, as a function of the temperature T in Celsius.

Reflect on the following quotation: “I’m a great believer that any tool that enhances communication has profound effects in term
34kurt

We can define communication as: "Transmission of signals through a common code to the sender and receiver."

Now, let's talk a little bit about algebra (this can be generalized for mathematics, not only <u>algebra</u>).

Math is a logical construction (there are pillars called axioms, and almost everything comes from them) that can be used to describe almost anything.

These descriptions are, in fact, a way of communication.

As you always will understand a price tag of $100 in some store, or what a sign in some number means.

Particularly if we go to more complex topics, like quantum mechanics or similar things, <u>math</u> is mandatory to write what we believe is happening, as words are not exact enough, and math has the property that it is always exact.

This means that 3 + 3 will always be equal to 6, but the mean of the words evolves with time, so one word may mean something today, and in 50 years the meaning can change.

Now let's answer both questions:

In what ways does <u>algebra</u> act as a tool to improve communication?

<u>Algebra</u> is really simple to understand and all around our world people use algebra, so you can use it to communicate with people that has a different mother tongue than you. Also can be used to describe things in an exact way, avoiding misunderstandings.

How does algebra affect how people can learn from each other?

As you may know, the largest part of human knowledge uses math in some form, it allows that knowledge to be available for everyone that understands <u>math.</u>

And because it was born as a logical construction,<u> algebra</u> (and <u>math</u>) is exactly the same thing everywhere, so it allows you to receive (and give) information from/to anyone, this is why it is a really important tool for learning.
