Well, for number three. You know that the length of the RECTANGULAR garden is 6.8 meters. Since it is a rectangle the garden will have 4 sides:two lengths and 2 widths. an easy way to find the width is to multiply the single length by 2, so 6.8 meters becomes 13.6. Then, you subtract that from the total perimeter, this leaves you with 7 meters. Those 7 meters are the sum of both width sides added together, so all you have to do is divide 7 by 2 to get 3.5 meters as your width. Before I go on do you understand how I got that number?

What is the gradient of the straight line 2y = -3x - 8 ?
lions [1.4K]

Answer:

- \frac{3}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope (gradient) and c the y- intercept )

Given

2y = - 3x - 8 ( divide all terms by 2 )

y = - \frac{3}{2} x - 4 ← in slope- intercept form

with gradient = - \frac{3}{2}

Given the position of the particle, what the position(s) of the particle when it’s at rest
choli [55]

The position function of a particle is given by:

X\mleft(t\mright)=\frac{2}{3}t^3-\frac{9}{2}t^2-18t

The velocity function is the derivative of the position:

\begin{gathered} V(t)=\frac{2}{3}(3t^2)-\frac{9}{2}(2t)-18 \\ \text{Simplifying:} \\ V(t)=2t^2-9t-18 \end{gathered}

The particle will be at rest when the velocity is 0, thus we solve the equation:

2t^2-9t-18=0

The coefficients of this equation are: a = 2, b = -9, c = -18

Solve by using the formula:

t=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt[]{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

Substituting:

\begin{gathered} t=\frac{9\pm\sqrt[]{81-4(2)(-18)}}{2(2)} \\ t=\frac{9\pm\sqrt[]{81+144}}{4} \\ t=\frac{9\pm\sqrt[]{225}}{4} \\ t=\frac{9\pm15}{4} \end{gathered}

We have two possible answers:

\begin{gathered} t=\frac{9+15}{4}=6 \\ t=\frac{9-15}{4}=-\frac{3}{2} \end{gathered}

We only accept the positive answer because the time cannot be negative.

Now calculate the position for t = 6:

undefined

How do the symptoms of depression compare to those of attempted suicide?
mestny [16]
The symptoms of depression and suicide are very similar, because most of the people that are depressed sometimes think about doing something to harm themselves. Plus depression causes them to stop eating, starts to be non social etc. The same goes for those who are having thoughts of suicide or have already done it.
