y = x +2

x +3y =-2

x + 3(x+2) = -2

x +3x +6 = -2

4x +6 = -2

4x = -8

x = -8/4 = -2

x = -2


y = -2 + 2

y = 0

x=-2, y = 0

It's easier to substitute the first equation into the second.

x + 3 (x+2) = -2
x + 3x + 6 = -2
4x + 6 = -2
4x = -8
x = -2
y = 0
