Solve for x in the equation x^2+20x+100=36

Factoring - I always found this to be easy (one of the few things in math that I felt was easy!)

x^2 + 20x + 100 = 36

First step is to get the right side to zero. Do this by subtracting 36.

x^2 + 20x + 64 = 0

Now we have to factor the expression. We could use quadratic formula, completing the square, or use the product/sum rule if possible (which it is).

64's factors are:
1, 64
2, 32
4, 16
8, 8

We need the two factors that sum to 20...

(x + 4)(x + 16) = 0
Set each factor to zero
x + 4 = 0 and x + 16 = 0

Solve each equation
x = -4 and x = -16

You should always check for extraneous solutions. I recommend using desmos.com to check answers!

Taylor can clean pools at a constant rate of 2/5 pools per hour. What is the ratio of pools to hours? HELPP PLEASE
Hatshy [7]

Hi! I'm happy to help!

To solve for this, we need to understand what a ratio is. A ratio is a comparison between two things. (in numbers) In this case,  between pools and hours:

pools:hours

A fraction is also a ratio, in this case we have 2/5, which also compares pools to hours, so we can turn this into a more proper ratio form:

2 pools: 5 hours

2:5

<u>So, our ratio of pools to hours is 2:5.</u>

I hope this was helpful, keep learning! :D

A park has a large circle painted in the middle of the playground area.thecircle is divided into 4 equal sections And each secti
lilavasa [31]

Answer:

The area of each section of the circle is 25\pi\ m^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The area of a circle is equal to

A=\pi r^{2}

we have

r=10\ m

substitute

A=\pi (10^{2})=100\pi\ m^{2}

To find the area of each section divide the complete area of the circle by 4

so

100\pi\ m^{2}/4=25\pi\ m^{2}

Suppose a birth defect has a recessive form of inheritance. In a study population, the recessive gene (a) initially has a preval
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Maternal gene = 0.25; Paternal gene = 0.25

Probability having a birth defect = 0.25 X 0.25 = 0.625

b) P(A) = 0.30; P(B) = 0.70

P(A)*P(B) = 0.30 X 0.70 = 0.021

For marriage:

25%: P(A)*P(A)*0.25 = 0.09 X 0.25 = 0.0225

65%: P(B)*P(B)*0.65 = 0.049 X 0.65 = 0.03185

10%: P(A)*0.10 = 0.03 and P(B)*0.10 = 0.07

P(A)*P(B) = 0.03 X 0.07 = 0.0021

Probability of a defect birth in the next generation = 0.0225 + 0.03185 + 0.0021 = 0.05645

c) 1. P(A)*P(A) = 0.09

2. P(B)*P(B) = 0.049

3. P(A)*P(B) = 0.021
