Factor the following
jek_recluse [69]

Answer:

(x - 4)×(x + 4)

Step-by-step explanation:

(x - 4)×(x + 4) = x^2 - 16

First we need to multiply inside the parenthesis one by one

Multiply x with (x + 4) and the result will be x^2 + 4x

Then multiply -4 with (x + 4) and result will be -4x - 16 we then add both of the result together by adding like terms

x^2 + 4x - 4x - 16 = x^2 - 16 (-4x eliminated 4x) therefore the answer to factorised form of x^2 - 16 is (x - 4)×(x + 4)

Does the data in the table represent a direct variation or an inverse variation? Write an equation to model the data in the tabl
MakcuM [25]

The equation for the direct variation is y= kx (where k is contant of variation.)

This equation represent that if x will increase then y will also increase because it's k times x.

Where the equation for indirect variation is y=\frac{1}{k} x

By this equation if x will increase then y will decrease and vice versa.

The given data is :

x: 2 4 8 12

y: 4 2 1 2/3

Notice as x is increasing then y is decreasing. Like x has increased from 2 to 4 then y is decresing from 4 to 2 and so on.

So, the given data represent an indirect variation.

Find a degree 3 polynomial with real coefficients having zeros 3 and 3−3i and a lead coefficient of 1. Write P in expanded form.
LekaFEV [45]

Answer:

P =  x³ − 9x² + 36x − 54

Step-by-step explanation:

Complex roots come in conjugate pairs.  So if 3−3i is a zero, then 3+3i is also a zero.

P = (x − 3) (x − (3−3i)) (x − (3+3i))

P = (x − 3) (x − 3 + 3i) (x − 3 − 3i)

P = (x − 3) ((x − 3)² − (3i)²)

P = (x − 3) ((x − 3)² + 9)

P =  (x − 3)³ + 9 (x − 3)

P =  x³ − 9x² + 27x − 27 + 9x − 27

P =  x³ − 9x² + 36x − 54

The sides of a triangle measure 7, 4 and 9. If the longest side of a similar triangle measures 36, what is the length of the sho
Arada [10]

Answer:

16

Step-by-step explanation:

OK, this might sound a bit confusing but I'll give it my best shot.

1. We know all the sides of one triangle, the smaller one. We know that the largest side of the large triangle is 36, and the largest side of our small triangle is 9. This means that they are related.

2. If we take 36 and divide by 9, it gives us 4. This number tells us how much bigger the large triangle is compared to the smaller triangle.

3. Now, we can take the number we just got, 4 and use it to find the other sides of the large triangle.

4. We need the smallest side of the large triangle. We can get this by taking the smallest side of the small triangle, and multiplying it by 4, since we know that the big triangle is 4 times larger than the small one.

5. 4 is the smallest side of the small triangle. We can multiply by 4, which is 16, and your answer!
