The atmospheric pressure P on a balloon or in aircraft decreases with increasing height . This pressure measured in Millimeters

of mercury , is related to the height H (in kilometers) above sea level by the formula p=760e ^ -0.145h. See photo for formula and answer following questions.
A.) find the height of an aircraft if the atmospheric pressure is 344 millimeters of Mercury. (Round to two decimal places)
B.) find the height of a mountain if the atmospheric pressure is 622 millimeters of mercury.

Answer:

(A)   5.47 km

(B)   1.38 km

Step-by-step explanation:

The relationship between Pressure (mmHg) and Height (km) is given by the equation below:

p =760 e⁻ 0.145h----------------------------------------------------- (1)

(a) The height of the aircraft can be calculated by making 'h' the subject of equation (1)

In (p/760) = -0.145 h

h = -In (p/760) /0.145

h= In (760/p)/ 0.145------------------------------------------------- (2)

For the aircraft, p =344 mmHg; substituting into (2)

h = In (760/344)/0.145

   = 0.7926/0.145

   = 5.4662 km

   ≈ 5.47 km

(b) p= 622 mmHg at the mountain top. Substituting into equation  (2) we have:

h = In (760/622)/0.145

  = 0.2003 / 0.145

  =  1.3813 km

  ≈  1.38 km

How are the shapes alike
Andrews [41]

Answer:

Each circle (A, B, and C) contain shapes that all share at least one characteristic. Some shapes are contained in more than one circle because they share more than one characteristic. For example, shape 3 fits the rule for circles A and B, but not circle C. It lies within circles A and B, but not circle C.

The A&M Hobby Shop carries a line of radio-controlled model racing cars. Demand for the cars is assumed to be constant at a
Bond [772]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

A) Demand per month= 40 cars

Annual Demand (D)= 12*40 = 480

Fixed Cost per order (K)= 15

Holding Cost= 20% of cost= 60 *0.2 = 12

a. Economic Order Quantity=

Q^{*}={\sqrt {{\frac {2DK}{h}}}}

= √(2*480*15)/12

=34.64 ~ 35

Total Cost =P*D+K(D/EOQ)+h(EOQ/2) P= Cost per unit

= 60*480+ 15(480/35) + 12(35/2)

= 28800+ 205.71+ 210

=$29215.71

B). Backorder Cost (b)= $45

Qbo= Q* × √( b+h/ h)

= 35*√(12+45/ 45)

= 35* 1.12

=39.28 ~ 39

Shortage (S)= Qbo * (K/K+b)

= 39* (15/15+45)

= 39* 0.25

= 9.75

Total Cost Minimum=( bS2/ 2Qbo) + P (Qbo- S)2/2Qbo + K(D/Qbo)

=45* 9.752 / 2* 392 + 60 (39-9.75)2/ 2* 392 + 15 ( 480/39)

= 1.40+ 21.9.+ 184.61

=$207.91

C)Length of backorder days (d) = Demand ÷ amount of working days

d = 480 ÷ 300

d = 1.6

Calculate the backorders as the maximum number of backorders divided by the demand per day

s/d = 9.75/1.6 = 6.09 days (answer)

D) Calculate the difference in total between not using backorder:

$207.85 + $207.85 - 207.91 = $207.79

The saving in using backorder is $207.79.

Therefore I would recommend using a backorder

Jill’s room is 12 feet long and 10 feet wide. she made a scale drawing of the room with a scale of 0.5 inches = 2 feet. what is
umka21 [38]
12/2=6.
6X0.5=3
so the scale drawing is 3 inches long
10/2=5
5X0.5=2.5
so the width of the scale drawing is 2.5 inches
3+3+2.5+2.5=11
