Jamie kicked a soccer ball that traveled along a path described by the parabola y = -x^2 +8x, where y equals the height of the s

occer ball in feet, and x = the horizontal distance in feet that the ball has traveled from Jamie.  How many feet from Jamie does the soccer ball hit the ground?

Equation of any Parabola is of the form y= ax^{2}+bx+c

If a is negative the parabola opens down.

The given equation of  soccer ball that traveled along a path was y=-x^{2}+8x

Comparing the two equations we have a=-1,b=8

As a is negative the parabola opens down and will have the maximum point at  vertex .

The x of vertex is given by x=\frac{-b}{2a}

Substituting a and b values we have:

x=-\frac{-8}{2x1} =\frac{8}{2}= 4.

The y of vertex is y=(-4)^{2}+8(4) =16

The highest point the soccer ball hit the ground is 16 ft.

I think it'd be 1/16 of the band because you'd multipy 1/4 by 1/4

Name two pair pf congruent and justifiy your answer
Elanso [62]

Hello!

Angles CAD and EAB are congruent.

The reason why is that they are vertical angles. Their points meet and therefore they are congruent.

I hope this helps!

the venn diagram represents the results of a survey that asked participants whether they would want a rabbit or a snake as a pet
rosijanka [135]
For this case we will complete the table part by part.
 We have then:

 First row:
 Snake = Rabbit = 4
 Rabbit = Not Snake = 18
 Total = 4 + 18 = 22

 Second row:
 Not rabbit = Snake = 11
 Not rabbit = Not Snake = 26
 Total = 11 + 26 = 37

 Third row:
 Total = 4 + 11 = 15
 Total = 18 + 26 = 44
 Total = 59

If a bowling ball is dropped out of an airplane,
Rom4ik [11]

Answer: The velocity of the ball is 108.8 ft/s downwards.

Step-by-step explanation:

When the ball is dropped, the only force acting on the ball will be the gravitational force. Then the acceleration of the ball will be the gravitational acceleration, that is something like:

g = 32 ft/s^2

To get the velocity equation we need to integrate over time, to get:

v(t) = (32ft/s^2)*t + v0

where v0 is the initial velocity of the ball. (t = 0s is when the ball is dropped)

Because it is dropped, the initial velocity is equal to zero, then we get:

v(t) = (32ft/s^2)*t

Which is the same equation that we can see in the hint.

Now we want to find the velocity 3.4 seconds after the ball is dropped, then we just replace t by 3.4s, then we get:

v(3.4s) = (32ft/s^2)*3.4s = 108.8 ft/s

The velocity of the ball is 108.8 ft/s downwards.
