Equation of any Parabola is of the form y= ax^{2}+bx+c

If a is negative the parabola opens down.

The given equation of  soccer ball that traveled along a path was y=-x^{2}+8x

Comparing the two equations we have a=-1,b=8

As a is negative the parabola opens down and will have the maximum point at  vertex .

The x of vertex is given by x=\frac{-b}{2a}

Substituting a and b values we have:

x=-\frac{-8}{2x1} =\frac{8}{2}= 4.

The y of vertex is y=(-4)^{2}+8(4) =16

The highest point the soccer ball hit the ground is 16 ft.

A pizza is cut into 12 pieces. Describe the steps you would take to find the area of one slice of the pizza.
Kitty [74]
Π=3.14
r= radius (center of the circle<span> to the outside edge)</span>
A=πr^{2}
so first you would find the area of the whole pizza
(A=πr^{2})÷12
then you would take that area and divide it by 12
so if the area of the whole pizza is 24
then you would do 24÷12 which would be 2
