Answer: b) it pitted communism against democracy

               d) it never became an actual war

Explanation: The Cold War began after the imposition of Communism in East European countries by the Soviet Union that is Stalin. Western countries were concerned about the expansion and strengthening of communism, and they carried out democratic elections and supported democracy as a resistance to the spread of communism to the west. Thus, two opposing political, military and allied blocs emerged. Stalin was consistent in the implementation of the so-called World Communist Revolution, which led him to a strict dictatorship and ban on any western influence in East European countries. Cold War got this name, not because there was a war between controversial policies and ideology in the true sense of the word. It involved a weapons race and a race in the space program in order to gain the advantage and prestige at the world level and so favoured one of the policies of the opposing blocks.

Who became president as a result of the Election 1876?
HACTEHA [7]

Answer:

B) Rutherford Hayes

Explanation:

The 1876 United States presidential election was the 23rd quadrennial presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 7, 1876. It was one of the most antagonistic and controversial presidential elections in American history. It is known for being the cause for the end of Reconstruction. Republican aspirant Rutherford B. Hayes faced Democrat Samuel J. Tilden and after a contentious post-election process, Hayes was declared the winner.

Samuel J. Tilden outpolled Rutherford B. Hayes and had 184 electoral votes to Hayes' 165, with 20 votes uncounted. These 20 electoral votes were in conflict in 3 states: Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina. While in Oregon one elector was declared illegal and replaced, each party reported its candidate had won the state. The 20 disputed electoral votes were ultimately awarded to Hayes after a resentful legal and political battle, in which he won.

Many people believe that an unofficial deal was struck to resolve the dispute: the Compromise of 1877. In return for the Democrats' acceptance in Hayes' election, the Republicans agreed to withdraw federal troops from the South, ending Reconstruction.

Colorado became a state during this election.

This was one of only 5 elections where the popular vote winner was defeated.
