Answer:

act 1

The play is set in a one-room apartment at the top of an old Victorian house. When the curtain rises, we see Jimmy Porter and Cliff Lewis, seated on opposite sides of he stage and reading newspapers. There are others beside them and between them, forming “a jungle of newspapers and weeklies.” Jimmy is smoking a pipe. A tattered stuffed bear and squirrel sit on a chest of drawers at the end of a double bed, which takes up most of the back wall. The furniture is simple and somewhat shabby.

Read the passage from The Odyssey - Elpenor.
adell [148]

For Odysseus and his men, the loss of Helios, the sun, symbolizes a loss of C. Hope.

In poetry, light ( such as the sun, the moon, candles, stars) often symbolizes good, hope, and freedom.

In the lines <em>"Never the flaming  eye of Helios lights on those men  at morning, when he climbs the sky of stars, nor in descending earthward out of heaven"  </em>the reflected idea is that they do not see the sunrise or sunset anymore, thus they are eventually condemned to a total loss of light, that is to say, hope.
