Answer:

\cos^2x

Step-by-step explanation:

The given expression is:

(\cos x)(\sec x)-\sin^2 x

Recall form Pythagorean Identity that;

\sec x=\frac{1}{\cos x}

We apply this property to obtain;

(\cos x)(\frac{1}{\cos x})-\sin^2 x

We simplify to get;

1-\sin^2 x

Recall from the Pythagorean identity that;

1-\sin^2 x=\cos^2x

If the sum of a number and eight is tripled the result is nine less than twice the number. Find the number
valina [46]

3(x + 8) = 2x - 9

<em><u>Distributive property.</u></em>

3x + 24 = 2x - 9

<em><u>Subtract 24 from both sides.</u></em>

3x = 2x - 33

<em><u>Subtract 2x from both sides.</u></em>

x = -33 (this is your answer)

We can plug this value into the original equation to verify if it's correct.

3(x + 8) = 2x - 9

3(-33 + 8) = 2 * -33 - 9

-75 = -75 √ this is correct

Hey,
We can see here 2 of the angles are equal and the third one is a right angle right?
That means it is an isosceles triangle since they have 2 equel angles and a right anlgle.

Another feature of the isosceles triangle is that 2 sides are equal.
We are given one side is 5.5 right?
So the side BC has to be 5.5 or the side AB has to be 5.5
In isosceles triangles the side opposite to the 90 degree angle is the hypotenuse.This means it is the longest angle.
So it has to be AB which is equal to 5.5 since BC is the hypotenuse.

Hope this helps,Happy New Year
