Express the product in simplest form 8/2x+8 * x^2-16/4

From  formula a^2-b^2 = (a-b)(a+b) :
x^2 - 16 = (x-4)(x+4)

In 2x+8 factor out "2", you'll  reach  2(x+4).  So:

\frac{8}{2x+8} \cdot \frac{x^2-16}{4}=\frac{8(x-4)(x+4)}{2(x+4) \cdot 4}= \frac{8(x+4)(x-4)}{8(x+4)}= \boxed{x-4}

(In finish  you delete 8(x+4) from nominator and denominator)

One side of a kite is 5 cm less than 2 times the length of another. If the perimeter is 14 cm, find the length of each side of t
Phoenix [80]
<h3>Answer:</h3>

D) 4 cm, 3 cm

<h3>Step-by-step explanation:</h3>

Let x represent the length of "another" side. Then "one side" can be represented by (2x -5 cm).

The perimeter of the kite is the sum of two sides of each length:

... P = 14 cm = 2(x) + 2(2x -5 cm)

Dividing by 2 and collecting terms, we have ...

... 7 cm = 3x -5 cm

... 12 cm = 3x

... 4 cm = x . . . . the length of "another" side

... 2(4 cm) -5 cm = 3 cm . . . . the length of "one side"

The two different side lengths are 4 cm and 3 cm.

4. The ratio of x to y is 1/2. If the ratio of x + 2 to y + 1 is 2/3 , then what is the value of x?
Art [367]

Answer:

4. B

Step-by-step explanation:

x/y =1/2

ie 2x=y

Also (x+2) ÷ (y+1) = 2/3

substituting for y we get,

x=4

Analyzing the answer options to calculate the total profit

(A) 15% of 50 is 7.5

(B) 25% of 50 is 12.5

(C) 33 1/3% of 50 is 16.67

(D) 40% of 50 is 20

(E) 75% of 50 is 37.5

Since selling price is the sum of the cost price and the profit, only 40%

gives us a whole number for selling price, making it our answer choice.(Option D)

Profit = Price - Cost

Now lets make the denominator = 100...So multiply both numerator and denominator by 2

Now you can equal each answer choice easily with equation above.......You need answer that creates even number to be divided by 2

Choices A, B, & E makes the number ending with 5 odd............Eliminate

Choice C is very clear ..........................................................Eliminate

Only one answer left.

Answer D

Check it

2Price - 100 = 40.........2Price = 140......P= 70...Bingo
