Khutulun was the daughter of Kaidu, Mongol ruler of Central Asia, Qaidu Khan. She had many brothers and she received the influenced of man manners since she was a girl. What the life of Khutulun reveal about Mongol gender relationships is that Mongol’s society was ruled by man, but they showed respect to women and had a strong presence in man’s activities.

The Mongols of the clan of Kaidu Khan really valued physical ability above all things. Khutulun could fight any man and won. Victorious warriors were considered gifted by the gods in the mind of the people of that time.

Khutulun, named princess of 10,000 horses, was the pride of the Mongol clan. She was very skilled with riding horses and shooting bows. When Khutulun’s father Kaidu went to war against his uncle Kublai Khan, Kaidu relied on Khutulun to lead the military forces in combat.
