Let x = the width of the border

2x+23) by (2x + 33) are the overall dimensions of the pool and the border. Use the area to find x!

Overall area - pool area = 660 sq/ft (aggregate area)

(2x+23)*(2x+33) - (23*33) = 660

Solve.

4x^2+112x = 660

4x^2+112x−660=0 → subtract 660 on both sides

4(x−5)(x+33)=0 → factor

x−5=0 or x+33=0 → set both factors equal to 0

x = 5 or x = -33

In this case, we would use the positive solution, so the strip can be 5 ft. wide!

I hope this helps :)

Randy rented a rectangular storage shed with the volume of 357 ft does it sheds height is 8 and 1/2 ft and the width of is 6 ft
ollegr [7]

Answer:

7 feets

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of shed, V = 357 feet³

Height of shed, H= 8 1/2 fts

Width of shed, W = 6 ft

Using the relation :

Volume = Length * width * height

357 = L * 6 ft * 17/2 feets

357 feets³ = L * 51 feets²

L = 357 feets³ / 51 feets²

Length, L = 7 feets

Help with matrice equations
Tasya [4]

Answer:

21) x=1, y=-1, z=2 and 23) x=3, y=-1, z=-1

Step-by-step explanation:

there are 3 equations in 21)

1) x+y-z=-2

2)2x-y+z=5

3)-x+2y+2z=1

solve for x by adding equation 2) and 1)

2)2x-y+z=5 +  1) x+y-z=-2   = 3x=3, then divide by 3 and x=1

solve for z by adding equation 1) and 3)

1) x+y-z=-2 + 3)-x+2y+2z=1

we then get a new equation, 4), by isolating z

3y+z=-1 which is 4) z=-1-3y

substitute our new equation, 4) z=-1-3y, and x=1 into equation 1) to get y

(1)+y- (-1-3y)=-2

isolate y to get y=-1

then substitute y=-1 into equation 4) to get z=2

check by substituting x=1, y=-1, and z=2 into all 3 equations

there are 3 equations

1)x+3y=0

2)x+y+z=1

3)3x-y-z=11

add equation 3) and 2) together to get x

3)3x-y-z=11 + 2)x+y+z=1

4x=12, x=3

substitute x=3 into equation 1) (3)+ 3y=0 to get y

3y=-3, y=-1

substitute x=3 and y=-1 into equation 2) to get z

(3)+(-1)+z=1,  z=-1

50 POINTS!!!!!!!
nevsk [136]

Answer: Option C)1 over 15 minus 1 over x equals 1 over 20

Explanation:

Since, Micah can fill a box with books in 15 minutes.

Therefore, the work done by Micah in one minute= 1/15

Also, Sydney takes the books out puts them on a shelf.

And the times taken by Micah when Sydney is also taking the books outside from the self= 20 minutes

Therefore, the work done by Micah in one minute when Sydney  taking books out of the box= 1/20

Let Sydney alone takes x minutes to take books outsides the shelf.

Then, work done by Sydney in one minute=1/x

Thus, the work done by Sydney( by taking books out of the box)=  the work done by Micah - work done by Micah and Sydney simultaneously= 1/15-1/20

⇒1/x=1/15-1/20

⇒1/15-1/20=1/x

⇒1/15-1/x=1/20 is the required expression.

Therefore, Option C is correct.

On a unit circle, the vertical distance from the x-axis to a point on the perimeter of the circle is twice the horizontal distan
zalisa [80]

Answer:

(2√5)/5

Explanation:

CHECK THE ATTACHMENT BELOW FOR DETAILED EXPLATION

From the question we can deduced that the vertical distance from the x-axis to a point on the perimeter of the circle is twice the horizontal distance, we can say that the y-coordinate, is twice of the horizontal, then let call the horizontal "y", the vertical would be 2y.

from the attachment the question on the unit circle is interpreted using a figure,then, hypotenuse was first calculated
