Based on the epic simile, how should the reader picture the beam of wood Odysseus found in the cave?

English

The simile that describes the beam of wood that Odysseus found in the cave is the following:

it was like a mast

a lugger of twenty oars, broad in the beam—

a deep-sea-going craft—might carry:

so long, so big around, it seemed.

A "mast" is an upright post found in most ships or vessels, especially in those that use sails. The simile explains that this beam of wood resembled the mast of an enormous ship as it was very long and broad.

The beam of wood looks like a club or a a staff. It looks like a large olive tree or like a mast of a ship with twenty oars (a very big mast).

Hope this helps :)

Which detail from the story supports the inference that Doctor DoLittle's kind nature is the reason why he has so many animals?
o-na [289]

Hello. You did not submit the text that this question refers to. This makes it impossible for it to be answered. However, I will try to help you as best I can.

To answer this question you will need to read all the text it is related to. During this reading, you will need to identify an act of kindness that Doctor DoLittle performs that causes so many animals to exist in his house. This act of kindness can be rescuing injured animals, feeding hungry animals, not rejecting animals that look for him, not sending these animals away, among others. The important thing is that you find an act of kindness that results in the amount of animals that Doctor DoLittle has in his home.
