The standard algorithm in the US (though this might not be the standard everywhere) is to add the digits in the ones place (carrying the 1 - which represents 10 - if their sum is 10 or more), then to move to the tens place and add the digits there (again carrying the one if their sum is more than 10 - though in this case the one that represents 100) and then we move to the hundreds place and so on.

So, let's do this with the numbers given. 57+58. We would line these up one over the other so that the digits 8 and 7 which are in the ones place are above each other. We add these and get 15 which is one ten and five ones. The 5 gets put down and the 1 gets carried over. Now we focus on the digits in the tens place (here 5 and 5). We add these and to their sum add the 1 we carried. This gives us 11 (but in actuality it means 110). We bring down the leftmost 1 and carry the other. There are no digits in the hundreds place so we being down the 1 we carried earlier.

This gives us an answer of 115.

What is the midpoint between points (4, 7) and (1, 1)?<br> Enter your answer down below
Andre45 [30]

Answer:

(2.5, 4)

Step-by-step explanation:

(4, 7) (1, 1)

midpoint formula is ( (x1 + x2) / 2  , (y1 + y2) / 2 )

=>( (4 + 1)/2 , (7 + 1)/2 )

=> (5/2, 4)

=> (2.5, 4)

What number must you add to complete the square? x^2+10x=15
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

(x+5)^2=40

Step-by-step explanation:

The number to be added is the square of half of the linear term coefficient. Such coefficient in our case is "10" (the number accompanying the variable x). Then, half of it is 10/2 = 5, and that number squared gives 25.

Therefore, the number to add on bothsides of the equality is 25, which leads to the following:

x^2+10x+25=15+25\\x^2+10x+25=40\\x^2+5x+5x+25=40\\x(x+5)+5(x+5)=40\\\\(x+5)^2=40

This matches answer B) of your choices.

Elijah invested $79,000 in an account paying an interest rate of 2% compounded
shusha [124]

Answer: He would have 16590 but if we want to know in total

it would be, 11060 (just from the percent) if you want to know in total add 16590 and 79,000 which would be (95,590 for Landon) and (Elijah would be 90060) in total

Step-by-step explanation:So in total Landon would have:

Landon-(95,590)

Elijah-(90,060)

So Landon would have 5,530 more dollars in 7 years than Elijah.
