Tom walked at a consistent pace from the economy parking garage to the airport terminal. He stood on a a moving sidewalk for 2/5

of the route, moving at twice his normal walking pace. He made the trip in 6 minutes. On his return trip, the moving sidewalk was out of order, so how long did it take him to walk back?

Let x be the number of minutes for his normal walk

On the way to the airport, for the 2/5 (or 40%) of his route, his speed is twice faster. Hence, the number of x should be divided to 2. The rest of the route (60%) was on his normal pace. The total minutes is 6. The equation is:

0.4(x÷2) + 0.6x = 6

Solving for x, the number of minutes for his normal walk is 7.5 minutes.

What is reciprocal of -4/1
olga nikolaevna [1]

Answer:

-1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

A reciprocal is simply defined as the inverse of a value or a number. So if we have a fraction of - 4/1 we can just flip the numerator and the denominator to get -1/4.

Type the correct answer in the box. Fill in the missing term in the equation. (1 + 2i)(2 + i) + = 5(2 + i)
mina [271]

Well, the first step would be to multiply everything out. 1*2=2, g1*i=i, g2i*2=4i, and 2i*i=2i^2. This would bring the equation to 2+i+4i+2i^2=5(2+i)

Next, multiply the other side. 5*2=10, and 5*i=5i. The equation is now:

2+i+4i+2i^2=10+5i

Now, combine like terms, and arrange the sides from highest exponents to lowest exponents: i+4i=5i. You can arrange the equation to 2i^2+5i+2=5i+10.

Subtract 2 from both sides: 2i^2+5i=5i+8

Subtract 5i from both sides: 2i^2=8

Divide both sides by 2: i^2=4.

Finally, find the square root of 4 to get i. The square root of 4 is 2, so i=2.
