The answer is B: Gregor´s transformation into a bug.

It is funny that, in this story by Franz Kafka, Gregor, the main character, finds himself turned into a bug for no apparent reason. His reasoning is not concerned with the reasons why that could have happened, but rather, with how it will affect his work, his family, and how uncomfortable it will be for them. Amongst many other themes explored in the story, certainly the main character´s and the author´s inadequacy is clearly in display.

D. Logos and Pathos

Explanation:

Logos is a Greek word which means that, an argument that appeals to a given audience sense of logic or reason in a given discussion. On the other-hand, Pathos evokes pity and sadness over the events in a given discussion.

In the excerpts above, it could be seen that, Carson rely on Pathos when he said that, endless stream of new chemicals are manufactured and pushed to Americans while approximately 500 are only used.

Logos, on the other hand, when his appeal to people to endure due to the fact that, adjustment to these chemicals would take time.
