What is the effect on the graph of the function f(x) = x when f(x) is replaced with -1/2 f(x)?
inn [45]

Answer:

The correct option is B.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given function is

f(x)=x

The new function is

g(x)=-\frac{1}{2}f(x)

g(x)=-\frac{1}{2}x        .... (1)

It is in the form of

g(x)=mx                   .... (2)

Where, m is a constant.

If m is negative, then there is a vertical reflection over x-axis. If the constant is greater than 1, we get a vertical stretch and  if the constant is between 0 and 1, we get a vertical compression.

From (1) and (2), we get

m=-\frac{1}{2}

Since the value of m is negative and absolute value of m is between 0 and 1, therefore the graph g(x) shows the vertical reflection over x-axis and vertical compression.

Option B is correct.

OPTIONS OVER HERE AND FOR A BETTER VIEW OF THE QUESTION LOOK AT THE PICTURE THANK YOU AND PLEASE HELP!!!
AlladinOne [14]

Answer:

a = 15

b = 7

c = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given in the question an expression \sqrt[4]{15}^{7}

This expression can be written as 15^{\frac{7}{4} }

As we know that roots are most often written using a radical sign, like this, \sqrt[n]{x} But there is another way to represent the taking of a root.

You can use rational exponents instead of a radical. A rational exponent is an exponent that is a fraction. For example, \sqrt[n]{x} can be written as x^{\frac{1}{n} }

Secondly two powers having same base can be multiply

x^{n}(^{m})=x^{nm}

The area of the base of a right triangular prism is 9cm and the length of the prism is 10cm. Calculate the volume of the prism.
NeX [460]
I'm guessing these are two questions? Anyway, to find the volume of most prisms, you just do base area into height. Here,we have our work cut out for us since we already have base area.
For the one with the 9, 10 dimensions, the volume is (9x10) = 90cm^3
For the the one with the 14.5, 6 dimensions, the volume is (14.5x6) = 87cm^3
