When action potentials reach the end of the axon, they stimulate opening of Ca2+ channels, causing a release of neurotransmitters to the post-synaptic cell. How does and impulse propagate down the axon? The stimulus causes a start of the action potential and it moves down the axon without the ions moving down

How fast would the International Space Station (ISS) have to travel to maintain a circular orbit a distance of 1400 km above the
professor190 [17]

Answer:

The International Space Station move at 7.22 km/s.

Explanation:

Orbital speed of satellite is given by  v=\sqrt{\frac{GM}{r}}, where G is gravitational constant, M is mass of Earth and r is the distance to satellite from centre of Earth.

r = R + h = 6350 + 1400 = 7750 km = 7.75 x 10⁶ m

G = 6.673 x 10⁻¹¹ Nm²/kg²

M = 5.98 x 10²⁴ kg

Substituting

              v=\sqrt{\frac{6.673\times 10^{-11}\times 5.98\times 10^{24}}{7.75\times 10^6}}=7223.86m/s=7.22km/s

  The International Space Station move at 7.22 km/s.

How much force is needed to keep the 750000 Newton Space Shuttle moving at a constant speed of 28000 km/h, in a straight line?
Alika [10]

The force needed to keep the space shuttle moving at constant speed is 0.

The given parameters;

  • <em>weight of the space shuttle, F = 750,000 N</em>
  • <em>constant speed of the space shuttle, v = 28,000 km/h</em>

The mass of the space shuttle is calculated as follows;

W = mg\\\\m = \frac{W}{g} \\\\m = \frac{750,000}{9.8} \\\\m = 76,530.61 \ kg

The force needed to keep the space shuttle moving at constant speed is calculated as follows;

F = ma

F = 76,530.61 \times a

where;

a is the acceleration of the space shuttle

At a constant speed, acceleration is zero.

F = 76,530.61 x 0

F = 0

Thus, the force needed to keep the space shuttle moving at constant speed is 0.

Two electrodes (0.68 mm apart) in your car's spark plug are subject to a 3.5 kV potential difference. What magnitude electric fi
Lubov Fominskaja [6]

The magnitude of the electric field produced in the region between the two electrodes is 5.15 \times 10^6 \ V/m.

<h3>Electric field strength</h3>

The electric field strength produced in the region between the two electrodes is calculated as follows;

E = \frac{v}{d}

where;

  • v is the potential difference = 3.5 kV = 3,500 V
  • d is the separation distance = 0.68 mm

The electric field strength is calculated as follows;

E = \frac{3500}{0.68 \times 10^{-3}} \\\\E = 5.15 \times 10^6 \ V/m

Thus, the magnitude of the electric field produced in the region between the two electrodes is 5.15 \times 10^6 \ V/m.
