10/9 is 1 + 1/9 so it is closer to 1.
9/16 is 1/2 + 1/16 so it is a little over 1/2 which means it is closer to 1.
2/15 is way under a 1/2 so it is closer to 0.

When a number is decreased by 16% of itself the result is 159.6. What is the number?
Rufina [12.5K]

Hey there! I'm happy to help!

Let's call this number n. Here is the info we can write about it. Remember that to write as a percent as a decimal you divide by 100.

n-0.16n=159.6

We combine like terms.

0.84n=159.6

We divide both sides by 0.84

n=190

Have a wonderful day! :D

Given the function f(x) = 2(3)x, Section A is from x = 0 to x = 1 and Section B is from x = 2 to x = 3.
jeyben [28]

f(0) = 2(3)(0) = 0  ⇒  (0, 0)

f(1) = 2(3)(1) = 6  ⇒  (1, 6)

<u>rate of change from x = 0 to x = 1</u>

\frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1} = \frac{6 - 0}{1 - 0} = \frac{6}{1} = 6

******************************************

f(2) = 2(3)(2) = 12  ⇒  (2, 12)

f(3) = 2(3)(3) = 18  ⇒  (3, 18)

<u>rate of change from x = 2 to x = 3</u>

\frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1} = \frac{18 - 12}{3 - 2} = \frac{6}{1} = 6

*****************************************

Since it is the same line, they will have the same slope (aka rate of change).
