We  have that

<span>y=1/2x-3
1) the slope of this line equation is m=(1/2)
2) the coordinates of the y intercept are
for x=0
y=-3
point (0,-3)
3)</span>the coordinates of the x intercept are
for y=0
0=(1/2)x-3------> (1/2)x=3----> x=6
point (6,0)

<span>if the line is dilated by a factor of 3
then
</span>y=1/2x-3--------> 3y=3*[1/2x-3]-----> 3y=(3/2)x-9
3y=(3x-18)/2-------> y=(3x-18)/6--------> y=(3/6)x-18/6

 y=(3/6)x-18/6
so
1) the slope of this line equation is m=(3/6)-----> 3/6=1/2
2) the coordinates of the y intercept are
for x=0
y=-18/6-------> y=-3
point (0,-3)
3)the coordinates of the x intercept are
for y=0
0=(3/6)x-18/6------> (3/6)x=18/6----> x=18/3------> x=6
point (6,0)

therefore
the equation of the line
y=1/2x-3 is the same that the equation of the line  y=(3/6)x-18/6

<span>the equation does not change because the slope and the x and y intercepts do not change either</span>

If the measure of an angle is 27°,find the measure of its supplement.
finlep [7]

Answer:

153°

Step-by-step explanation:

1. If 27° is the supplement of another angle (or vice versa), that means both angles add up to 180.

2. To find the supplement of 27°, we simply subtract that number from 180.

  • 180 - 27
  • 153

Therefore, the supplement of 27° is 153°.

A football player punts a ball. The path of the ball can be modeled by the equation y = –0.004x2 + x + 2.5, where x is the horiz
Galina-37 [17]
The answer is <span>252.5 ft

</span><span>y = –0.004x</span>²<span> + x + 2.5
Let's take y = 0 and we'll get the quadratic equation:

</span>–0.004x² + x + 2.5 = 0
The general formula for quadratic equation is:
ax² + bx + c = 0

a = -0.004
b = 1
c = 2.5

x_{1,2} = \frac{-b+/- \sqrt{ b^{2}-4ac} }{2a} =\frac{-1+/- \sqrt{ 1^{2}-4*(-0.004)*2.5} }{2*(-0.004)} = \frac{-1+/- \sqrt{1+0.04} }{-0.008} = \\ &#10;=\frac{-1+/- \sqrt{1.04} }{-0.008} = \frac{-1+/-1.02}{-0.008}

x_1=\frac{-1+1.02}{-0.008} = \frac{0.02}{-0.008} = -2.5 \\ &#10;x_2=\frac{-1-1.02}{-0.008} = \frac{2.02}{-0.008} = 252.5

Since distance cannot be negative (x1), the correct answer is x2 = 252.5 ft
