Which statement expresses the irony of this particular kind of corruption to the democratic process? The founders of American de

mocracy would not have expected corruption in Philadelphia. The descendants of the founders of American democracy were the leaders of corrupt political machines. The voters cast their ballots in a building called Independence Hall but they were not free to make their own decisions. The men who once stood for democratic ideals and fair government now support corrupt political machines.

The correct answer should be The voters cast their ballots in a building called Independence Hall but they were not free to make their own decisions.

This is ironic because the voters cast votes but the votes don't actually mean anything since politics are conducted by a corrupt political machines that doesn't care about the people. This is why it's ironic, they believe that they are making a change but they don't know that the future has already been decided by few.

Answer – The voters cast their ballots in a building called Independence Hall but they were not free to make their own decisions.

Although ballots were cast at the independence hall by delegates to the congress, the delegates were not free to make their own decisions. This was because delegates were elected to the Congress by thirteen different governments, and these delegates were bound by whatever instructions were given to them. For this reason, regardless of their personal opinions, the delegates could not vote for or against independence unless their instructions permitted such an action. This is an irony because the congress voted for independence, being bound by the instructions given to them.

What were the reasons for the late nineteenth century boom on migration to the West from the eastern United States and Europe?
gregori [183]
Okay, so, just from the top of my head, I think that it is because of the growing belief of "Manifest Destiny" in the nineteenth century. I'm not sure if this is the actual right answer for your question, but I do know that Manifest Destiny was in the nineteenth century and was the widely held belief in the USA that American settlers were destined to expand through out the continent. And I think both the USA and Europe wanted to expand, it was kind of a copetition/conflict they had. This was actually how Canada and Alaska came to be I believe. This was a simple explanation btw. cx
