The coordinates of the vertices of quadrilateral ABCD  are A(−4, −1) , B(−1, 2) , C(5, 1) , and D(1, −3) .
finlep [7]

Hi there, KawallPotato! :)

Finding the slope of a line is finding the rise over run, or the change in y over the change in x. Let me show you what I mean.

Slope = change in y / change in x

Or in other words, \frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1}

Let's try it with AB. The first thing to consider is the placement of the letters. The blank space is asking for the slope of point A to point B, which means that the coordinates of A are your y₁ and x₁ values and the coordinates of B are your y₂ and x₂ values.

Put them in the equation like this:

\frac{2 - (-1)}{-1 - (-4)}

2 - (-1) is a double negative, so it becomes 2 + 1, which is 3.

-1 - (-4) turns into -1 + 4 for the same reason. The change in x is also 3.

\frac{3}{3} = 1, so the slope of line AB is 1.

Using the same method, we can solve the next three problems.

Coordinates of B: (-1, 2)

Coordinates of C: (5, 1)

Slope: \frac{1 - 2}{5 - (-1)} = \frac{-1}{5+1} = -\frac{1}{6}

The slope of BC is -1/6.

Coordinates of C: (5, 1)

Coordinates of D: (1, -3)

Slope: \frac{1 - (-3)}{5 - 1} = \frac{1 + 3}{5 -1} = \frac{4}{4}, so the slope is 1.

Coordinates of A: (-4, -1)

Coordinates of D: (1, -3)

Slope: \frac{-1 - (-3)}{1 - (-4)} =  -\frac{2}{5}

The slope is -\frac{2}{5}.

Quadrilateral ABCD is not a parallelogram because it has only one pair of parallel opposite sides.

I hope this was helpful. Have a great day. :D

Please help me on this question
Vesnalui [34]
Jill is picking up everyone's waterbill so she is paying $60 plus $125 (being half of the water bill) so that comes out to $185.
D=185 in this case

Ron is paying for 1/3 of the rent plus the other half of the water bill. That comes out to 1/3R+125.
A=1/3R+125

And then Jack is paying for Jill's rent as well as his own. That is 2/3 of the rent.
C=2/3R

and then the choice not used is the 'no match' option. Hope this helps :)

What is the slope of the line that passes through (2, 5) and (−1, 5)?
Wittaler [7]
(2,5)(-1,5)....notice that ur y's are the same number...they are both 5.
This means that u have a horizontal line which has a slope of 0. If the y's are the exact same number, then u have a horizontal line.

if the x's would have been the same number, then u would have had a vertical line with an undefined slope

german

Let x be the amount (gal) of the 40% slime solution you end up using. You want to end up with 120 gal of the 50% solution, so that you would use 120-x gal of the 70% solution.

You want the final solution to consist of 50% slime, or 60 gal of slime. Each gal of the 40% solution contributes 0.4 gal of slime, while each gal of the 70% solution contributes 0.7 gal of slime. This means

0.4x+0.7(120-x)=0.5\cdot120=60

\implies0.4x+84-0.7x=60

\implies24=0.3x

\implies x=80

so the answer is B.
