An example would be a child who touches a hot stove and gets burned. In the future the child avoids the stove. The child has learned through experience and has altered his behavior.</span>
The reason is because the land is mostly unlivable. When you look at the map there is not much bodies of water. Whenever an area is unpopulated the main reason is that it does not have suitable living circumstances including not having supplies like food, water or both.

The winds which flows in a particular area and the direction of those winds are predicted from before. Local winds like the sea breeze which flows from the sea to land keeping the temperature of the coastal areas little mild. Also, the land breezes which flows from the land to the sea at night. These local winds are quite dissimilar to the global winds. These winds don't change the total weather of a place but they just vary the temperature in few degrees of that small particular area.
The North wanted the federal government to govern the entire country. The South wanted the states to have more power.
They also disagreed on whether or not the new territories would allow slavery or not.
